Woman proud of facelift results

When the time comes for your facelift consultation, you will probably want to ask a few questions about the procedure, the healing process, so more. Instead of letting yourself get overwhelmed during your consultation, it is a good idea to have a few questions prepared. This ensures that you’re getting the most out of your consultation.

  1. Am I a good candidate for a facelift procedure?

First and foremost, you should know whether a facelift procedure is appropriate for you. A surgeon should be able to walk you through whether a facelift would be effective and safe.

  1. Will the procedure be done by a board-certified surgeon and trained attending-staff?

It would likely be best to know this before the consultation, but it is important to know this if you don’t already. You should know about your surgeon’s experience, training, and successes. If you haven’t seen before-and-after photos of procedures that the surgeon has completed in the past or if you are interested in looking into reviews from past patients, you should request that as well. Jefferson’s surgeons, Dr. Heffelfinger and Dr. Krein, are double board certified and are more than happy to give you the information you need to make an informed decision.

  1. Is there a less invasive or alternative procedure that can fulfill my needs?

You should know all of your options – don’t let yourself get caught off guard. There are plenty of resources online, but your surgeon should be able to provide information about what alternatives may be available for you.

  1. What is the healing process like?

Healing is just as important as preparing for the procedure. If you have to make plans ahead of time in order to heal properly, you should do so. A majority of patients take two weeks to heal and over that time will likely experience swelling, pain, and bruising that will fade over time.

  1. What are the possible complications from the procedure?

While complications are uncommon among professional and experienced surgeons, it is important to know what can happen in the worst-case-scenario. Serious scarring, fluid retention under the skin, and numbness can be some of the complications involved in a facelift.

Don’t let your questions go unanswered. If you are interested in learning more about the possibilities of a facelift procedure, schedule a consultation online or call us at 215-503-FACE to talk to one of our specialists today.
