Achieving healthy, fresh post-summer skin can be a face-off. The sun is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with, but it is a battle your skin can win.

No matter how safe you’ve been in the summer sun this year, your skin may still look and feel worse for wear. What’s more, the chill in the air can also mean more changes to your skin in the form of mystery breakouts, flaky patches, and sunspots.

Before you start planning a move to a warmer climate, here are three tips for tackling too much summer sun.

Time to Exfoliate

From tons of sunscreen and makeup to time spent in the water, your pores are sure to be well and truly clogged. Exfoliating at least once a week can protect your face from breakouts. An exfoliating scrub or even an indulgent treatment, can clear blemished skin and soften the sun’s leathery effect to get your complexion glowing again.

Don’t Forget to Tone

Toning leaves your skin free of cleanser residue. In fact, it’s good for hydrating, rebalancing, and refreshing your face after a long summer. It’s also perfect for getting rid of product residue to ensure your skin stays clean and clear after exfoliating – and every day in between.

Don’t Skimp on Moisturizer

After days spent in the harsh sun, your skin needs moisture. As we head into winter, change to a moisturizer that’s packed with antioxidant-rich vitamins to help your skin reverse the summer damage and remain soft and smooth.

If you’ve spent the summer soaking up the sun, taking a dip in the sea or the pool, and generally loving the heat, there’s no doubt your skin needs treating. With the above three tips, you can get your face back to soft, smooth, and glowing just in time or the holiday season!
